The frisbee golf (disc golf) community is growing in the STL area. The sport of frisbee golf was invented in the early 1900s, and the first official sporting event was held in 1927 in Bladworth, Canada. Unfortunately, it’s not the game that we see today. In the 1920s, the game was played by throwing tin lids into 4 ft wide circles drawn into sandy patches on school grounds. The game was called ‘Tin Lid Golf,’ and it wasn’t until the 1970s that modern disc golf would be introduced to Canadians at the Canadian Open Frisbee Championship.
